Terms & Conditions

These Terms of Use explain the rules for using the Protection Expert website and services.

What’s in these Terms of Use?

These Terms of Use tell you the rules for using this website (the “Website”).

Who we are and how to contact us

The Website is operated by Protection Expert Limited (company number 14845040) of The Steam Mill, Chester (“we”, “us” or “our”). To contact us, please telephone 01244 604 644.

By using our Website, you accept these Terms of Use

By using our Website, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to them, you must not use our Website or services. Specific services may also be governed by additional or alternative terms and conditions with us or third parties. Our use of personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy.

Changes to the Terms of Use

We may change these Terms of Use from time to time, for example to comply with legal requirements or make technical adjustments. Changes will be posted on this Website and we will try to give reasonable notice of major changes.

Registering on our Website

You must be aged 18 or over to create an account. Details provided during registration must be true, accurate, complete and current. You are responsible for keeping your login details confidential and for activity carried out through your account.

Please take reasonable steps to prevent unauthorised access and contact us immediately if you believe your account or email address has been compromised.

Marketing emails

When you create an account or use a quotation or comparison service, you may be offered the choice to receive marketing from us, our group companies or third parties. You can manage your preferences or unsubscribe at any time. We may still send service messages relating to your enquiry or account.

Your responsibilities

The Website provides information about selected products and services and may facilitate a transaction between you and a supplier. It is provided for general information and does not itself constitute investment, financial or other professional advice.

  • Answer questions honestly, accurately and to the best of your knowledge.
  • Obtain permission before supplying another person’s details.
  • Read and comply with any supplier’s separate terms and conditions.
  • Check that the service and information supplied meet your requirements.
  • Make payments due to a supplier under the terms agreed with that supplier.

Content you provide

You must not submit content that is illegal, obscene, abusive, threatening, defamatory or otherwise objectionable. By submitting content, you confirm that you have the rights needed for us to use it in connection with the Website and our services.

Disclaimer and liability

The Website and its content are provided free of charge on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or fault-free operation and may update, maintain or temporarily withdraw the Website.

Information about suppliers and their services may come from third parties. You are responsible for evaluating its quality, suitability, accuracy, completeness and timeliness. The Website is intended for UK residents.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation. For business users, to the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for loss of profits, sales, business, revenue, anticipated savings, opportunity, goodwill or reputation, or for indirect or consequential loss.

Viruses and security

We do not guarantee that the Website will be secure or free from bugs or viruses. You are responsible for configuring your technology and using appropriate virus protection. You must not introduce malicious material or attempt unauthorised access to the Website, its servers or connected systems.

Intellectual property

We are the owner or licensee of intellectual property rights in the Website, its information, content, databases, software and underlying source code. Material may not be reproduced, republished, transmitted or distributed without prior written consent, other than as needed for your personal use of the Website and our services.

Third parties

The Website may contain links to third-party products, services or websites. We do not control and are not responsible for them. A link or advertisement should not be taken as an endorsement.

Restrictions on use

You must not use the Website unlawfully, interfere with another person’s use, damage or interrupt the Website, reverse engineer our processes, remove copyright notices, transmit protected material without permission, or use automated software to collect Website data without consent.

Financial comparison services

When using a financial comparison service, the answers you provide determine which services may be available. Supplier policies and terms are separate from ours. You must check your details on the supplier’s website and ensure that any product or service meets your needs.

We do not charge a fee for using our comparison service or Website. We may receive commission from a supplier when you click through to its website or purchase a service.

Complaints

We aim to provide an excellent standard of service. If you are unhappy, please see our Customer Complaints procedure. Complaints relating to a supplier’s own service should normally be addressed directly to that supplier.

Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms and non-contractual obligations connected with them are governed by English law. Consumers and we agree that the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, subject to the rights of residents of Scotland and Northern Ireland. Business users agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.

Other important terms

Each paragraph operates separately. If any provision is found unlawful, the remaining provisions remain in force. A delay in enforcing a right does not prevent it being enforced later. We may transfer our rights and obligations to another organisation, provided this does not affect your rights.
